T-Mobile HTC Dash sends the same text message multiple times

Problem

I sent a single text message to a friend and they have received it 20 times. I have tried removing and replacing the battery, deleting the conversation and completely removing them from my contacts. Nothing has stopped the duplicate messages. It is a T-Mobile HTC Dash SmartPhone running Windows Mobile 6.1.

Resolution

To fix this issue, you will need to reset the phone to factory default. You will lose all personal data saved on the phone, so be sure to first backup your pictures and contacts with a 3rd party solution, such as Microsoft Myphone.

To reset your phone to default:
- Click "Start"
- Click "Device Management"
- Click "Clear Storage"
- Follow the instructions on the page that is displayed (type 1234 in form field, etc.)

The phone will reboot and return defaulted. Check to ensure you have internet service by opening internet explorer and going to a dependable site such as google.com or yahoo.com. If you receive an error message, it is possible that your GPRS Server settings are incorrect.

To set GPRS server settings (T-Mobile customers ONLY):
- Click "Start"
- Click "Settings"
- Scroll through the list to find and click "Connections." (Should be on the 2nd page)
- Click "GPRS"
- Click the GPRS item related to Internet/Data
- Set "Access Point " to "internet2.voicestream.com"
- Click "Done"

Check your internet connection again by opening Internet Explorer and going to a dependable site such as google.com or yahoo.com. If you continue to have issues connecting to the internet, call T-Mobile support at 1-800-937-8997
